Physique TV Becomes The Exclusive Broadcast Partner of ONE
FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIP in the Middle East and North Africa
Physique TV, the region’s first and only 24 hour HD television channel dedicated
to fitness, healthy living, MMA and extreme sports, has secured the exclusive rights
to broadcast ONE Fighting Championship ™ (ONE FC), Asia’s largest MMA
organization, which will feature Arabic commentary. The new partnership will include
LIVE MENA region broadcast rights to ALL ONE FC global events through 2016.
Hamid Dizji, CEO, SGT Group, the owners of Physique TV, said, “MMA is the
fastest-growing sport today and One FC has got a very good footprint in Asia. We
could start with the Gulf region and then move on to Lebanon, Jordan and beyond.
For us the challenge at the moment would be to engage people here.”
ONE FC CEO Victor Cui stated, “On behalf of ONE Fighting Championship™,
I would like to warmly welcome Physique TV on board as a broadcast partner. This
is an exciting time for mixed martial arts in Asia and the Middle East is rapidly
becoming a hotbed for the sport. Physique TV is a fantastic partner and one of the
most popular broadcasters in the region and ONE FC is excited at the opportunity
to showcase our fighters to millions of homes throughout the region.”
Before the LIVE events, Physique TV’s panel of MMA experts will give their
insights and predictions in a pre-fight show introducing the fighters and exciting
MMA fans. The LIVE broadcast will feature Arabic commentary as well as fighter interviews
between each match. After the LIVE broadcast, highlights of the fights will be analyzed
on Physique TV’s Arabic language program MMA ALL OUT which airs Sunday to
Thursday at 10:30 PM KSA.
Physique TV MMA presenter Rio Altaie highlights the unique aspect of having Arabic
commentary during the fights. “More and more audiences in the Middle East
are becoming interested in MMA and we feel that speaking to them in their native
language provides more connection when watching the fights.”
ONE FC ‘Reign of Champions’ was the biggest event in ONE FC history
as three ONE FC World Championship title belts were at stake. ONE FC Lightweight
World Champion Shinya Aoki defended his title against veteran Kamal Shalorus, while
two new champions took home the belts. ONE FC Featherweight World Championship belt
went to Mongolian Narantungalag Jadambaa and undefeated wrestling superstar Ben
Askren took the ONE FC Welterweight World Championship title. Mohammed Walid, an
Arab fighter based in the UAE, made his ONE FC debut at the event winning the match
in Round 1.
